1927

Kikumatsu Nakao founded "Nakao Shoten" and began manufacturing konjac.

1969

Production of tokoroten using powdered raw materials begins.

1975

Nakao Food Industry Co., Ltd. was established, and the second generation, Tadao Nakao, became the representative director.

1980

Headquarters relocated to Kusabe, Nishi-ku, Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture.

1982

Production of tokoroten (agar jelly) made from Amakusa begins.

1985

Start of production of kuzukiri products

1989

The company name was changed to "Nakashoku Co., Ltd." and the second wife, "Yuko Nakao," was appointed representative director.

1998

Started manufacturing konjac using 100% specially cultivated sweet potatoes and solidified with traditional ash.

2002

The company name was changed to Nakao Food Industry Co., Ltd., and the third-generation president, Koji Nakao, was appointed representative director.

Obtained organic manufacturer certification

2005

Started manufacturing konjac made from 100% organically grown konjac potatoes using traditional ash-solidified methods

Started production of warabimochi-style konjac sweets

2008

Production of "raw tokoroten" has begun, which is made by filling boiled tokoroten without preservative water.

2013

The fourth generation, Tomohiko Nakao, becomes the representative director.

2016

Switched to outsourcing manufacturing of scrap metal products

Started production of hand-tied shirataki noodles for convenience stores
